The official LEGO Movie Maker App is only available for iOS at the moment, but the techniques still apply to general animation. If you’re looking for an alternative for android, try Lapse It or Stop Motion Studio (Both free)

Here’s a list of everything you need to start animating!
1. LEGO
You’ll need something to animate!
2. Lights
2 or 3 desk lamps will work just fine.
I recommend using Cree LED lightbulbs because they run cool and use less power. Buy at your local hardware store or at http://amzn.com/B00BXFP0SS
Tips:
Tape a piece of paper to diffuse the light. You can also tape a colored gel over the light to change the color to get the look you want. (Just make sure the paper isn’t too close to the light!)
3. Camera
I recommend starting out with a webcam. I’ve made many great films with the c920! In the future you can always upgrade to a DSLR if you really need the extra quality.
4. Computer
If you’re current computer isn’t fast enough. These are my recommended specs for a new computer.
Recommended specs:
5. Animation Software
PC – HeliumFrog Animator [FREE]
Mac – iStopMotion [$50]
Mac – Dragonframe [$295]
iPhone/iPad/iPod touch – iStopMotion [$9.99]
6. Video Editing Software
Windows has Movie Maker built in for free and Mac has iMovie (also free). Here are some free optoins: http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/applications/best-free-video-editing-software-9-top-programs-you-should-download-1136264 But if you’re looking for something a bit better, then here’s a list comparing your options: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2397215,00.asp If you have the money to spend on professional options, then I recommend Sony Vegas Pro or Premiere Pro (What I use).
